    1980 Rub Rail

    Howdy guys.

I was at the lake yesterday and while at the dock getting ready to load my boat, a series of wakes came. My rub rail insert made contact with the dock and pulled some of the rubber insert out of the groove it’s held into on the side of the boat.

About 24” was pulled free, right at boat mid length.

How do you get that rub rail rubber back in the grooves that hold it?

Thank you in advance for any input!

It’s should push right back in. If not try some liquid soap as a lubricant.

    Try a rubber mallet too

soapy water, plastic flat head screwdriver and a rubber mallet. Never had section pop out but have replaced the whole rub rail. That is a chore in itself.

A heat gun is your friend......soften it up a bit and push it in.

I used a small flat blade screw driver and my fist. It's back it, but seems "loose" now. I don't think it will come out.
