Boat construction technology - Any years better than others?

In the market for a used boat and see a lot of positives for older Cajuns versus other brands. For the $5-9K price point I'm comfortable with I'm leaning towards trying to find a Cajun and I've seen here in the forums there are a host of models built over the years. I've tried searching when construction and technology changed with Cajun but haven't found anything yet. From the other forums on other brands it looks like most opinions say avoid most boat from the 80's as the construction mostly consisted of wood and without care those are likely rotted and require extensive repair.

Is there a certain year or model considered more desirable for construction purposes? Thanks.

Look for the 5/50 decal on a Cajun. That boat had the 50 year transom, no wood, all composite and aluminum grid, a a 5 year hull warranty. That started in the, I think mid 80's. We sold them, but my old memory is problematic.
