I just bought a 91 javelin 409 trying to figure out fuel capacity since my gauge is not working. Also how long roughly should I be able to run on that fuel capacity with a 225 optimax on that boat

Can't help on fuel cap. On carbed motors, the rule of thumb reference consumption was: Figure 10% of your rated hp and that was how many gallons you would burn per hour at wot i.e. 200hp x .10 = 20 gal/hr wot. It's a starting point. Enjoy your new boat.
Thank you
My 389 has a fuel tank that is approximately 40 gallons, I believe yours is the same. I would guess that motor at WOT gets at best 3 miles per gallon.
Is WOT Wide open throttle?
I have a 1996 409 it has a 51 gal tank
my 1996 409T DC holds 52 gallons I was told , I can run all day and use less than a half tank of gas, stay of the loud pedal , cruise at 50 mph and it sips the gas, 225 Johnson ,
1996 Javelin 409T DC /225 Johnson Venom
I love the 409s man I miss the OMC boat group.
I had a 379 TDC and she held 38 US GAllons.
