    Pellets for Pellet Grills

I don't know if this has been discussed previously or not and I know that there is a plethora of pellets out there, but are you guys using locally available pellets in your grills or ordering from the various manufacturers? Any preferred brands or brands that are superior or subpar such as burn characteristics and ash production?

I have a Yoder YS640s and have been really pleased with GMG pellets https://www.amazon.com/Green-Mountai...28170381&psc=1

Very little ash and smoke flavor is good.

I have only used Pit Boss Competition and Charcoal pellets in mine so far and haven't had any issues at all. Ash isn't bad at all, good flavor, etc.

Lumberjack for me. If you have a Rural King nearby they are usually 8.99 for 20lb bag. Cabelas brand is supposedly made by Lumberjack too. If you have friends with pellet grills you can get together and do a bulk order and save some money. I did that with some locals in my area and we were able to get 40lb bags for around 14.00

Went to the "local" Rural King which is 30+ miles away one way this Saturday and picked up 100 lbs in various flavors. $8.88 per 20 lb bag! Dick's, like everyone has said, is just shy of double that price. Used the maple/cherry/hickory blend on Saturday and the apple blend on Sunday. Man, do they smell good! Tempted to fire it up in the basement and smoke up the house!

Got a funny story for you guys! Was changing out the pellets from mesquite to pecan today and as I was removing the mesquite pellets the spouse, who is blonde by the way, says "oh, that's neat, how many times can you use those"! I busted out laughing, couldn't help it! I promptly told her that I understand why blondes have more fun!
