    2019 250 SHO Prop Help--Ranger z21

    z21 Prop Help

I have a 2007 Ranger that I just repowered with a 250 SHO. I have a 25p T1 prop and a 10" hydro jackplate. Was having a great hole shot and top end before the dog days of summer. As with many my RPMS went from 5950 down to 5600. Hole shot was awful. Water temp was 90 degrees and the air hotter. Was going to get a smaller pitch prop for summer months. Just wondering what to go with. I was thinking a 24 tempest or trophy? Somebody told me to get a 23p Fury as it is equal to a 24p tempest? I am no prop expert and just looking for some ideas. Thanks

I have a merc on my Z21. I run a 23p tempest that I had worked with added cup and was a huge improvement over the fury 25 I had before. Mark Croxton told me that the z21 hull design was too heavy for the fury prop and that the tempest would work better because of the larger blade diameter.

I would steal his prop and try before buying anything. The prop will work on your boat, you may need to switch the hubs in it to fit your lower unit.

Im running a 25 t2 sho prop, on my ranger z21 with the 250hp sho. Turning 5600 at 67mph, but it gets squirrelly at top end. Im looking for a faster prop with less lift currently.

@21XDC, i was running a 250 hpdi, with a 25p t1 prop turning 5950 at 69mph, it ran nose down. You could eat a sandwich with one hand at WOT.

You might need to raise your motor...

Well, finally got to run the 24p t1 prop, top speed 65.9 mph at 5700 rpm's. So really no change, maybe a need to take it to the yamaha dealer to see if im getting 100% throttle.
