    TROLL TAMER

Need help with this. I have a troll tamer on a 2018 skeeter. I have pulled up on my trolling motor and forgot it was on it
and it has torn out of the deck. I have put it back on twice and now the holes are to big to screw into . I thought about
putting something under deck like piece of wood to drill into but no way i can reach it. about 3 ft to long. no other way except
through the port rod locker and still cant reach it. Any ideas what to do

Take a piece of wire or toothpick and put in hole then replace the screw. Should hold tight.

I know you said it was almost impossible to reach, but if there is any way possible to reach it, I would highly recommend bolts instead of screws. Other options are filling the screw hole with some type of filler material. Wood or something like that, then insert the screws.

This. And football season hasn't even started. Although USC did chicken out early.

Troll Tamer Man I'm glad it 's something to do with a Trolling Motor......Thought for a minute it was some new Computer App and some of us were in real trouble.

Take troll tamer off and fill holes with marinetex? Not sure the purpose of a troll tamer anyway

    Just install a threaded insert.

Use seat pedestal mount nuts. Seal them well with silicone to keep water out. West Marine will have them, maybe BPS or Cableas also.

Depending on the size of the hole, push a golf tee in, break it off flush and reinsert the screws. Works great on door jambs as well.

Jamming a cable tie (or 2 or 3) in the hole instead of a piece of wood will also work and they won't rot.

I like zip ties to fill a hole. But in this case I guess it will just rip out again.

Only thing I can think of is find an alternative.

Well if you can get a bigger screw in, that would be your best bet. I think the limiting factor there is the base mount, and what size it will accept. Maybe you could drill out the holes on the base mount to accept a bigger screw if it does not.

If they are small, get a small hardwood dowel, coat with 5 minute epoxy, drive it in and let the epoxy cure. Then drill a pilot hole and set the screws. Both the dowel and epoxy can be found at a decent hardware store.

This is what I would do . Just make sure the epoxy cures completely before drilling .

Through bolt it. It’s hard to reach but you can rig up a rod with a socket on the end and put the nut in it. Reach up and finesse the nut onto the bolt without cross threading it. It may take a lot of time but after 3 years mine is still rock solid after I ripped the screws out of my front deck. Honestly it probably took 30 min to get the 3 nuts on the bolts but like I said once it’s there its on forever. Or better yet if you know a real small kid that can fit in the rod locker that will work as well lol. I forget the size the bolts are but bring the base into a hardware store and get the correct size and make sure they are long enough to go through the troll tamer base and through the deck.
