Asking for a friend Sprint Bass Max BX19

Running a 2001 Merc 225 EFI running a custom made 4 blade 25 ,since he put on power poles and with the livewells full and partner can't get out of the hole , what kind of prop would be a good starting point for this motor in the 23 pitch range?? should he stay 4 or go to a 3 blade??? I'm trying to get more info so far as rpms and top speed now along with prop to pad measurements ok supposedly get 5800 rpms and 70mph with the prop he has just hole shot that is hurting?

Hole shot is never your 1st priority. Get it running right first and then look at takeoff.

So what’s it doing on the big end? RPMs? Speed? If he’s not at the top end of the rpm range then that usually means it’s a dog out of the hole.

And hole shot is either a or b. A is lugging along until it finally gets enough rpms to break over and go. B is he’s cavitating and blowing out before it breaks over.

And that boats never been a hole shot rocket, and hanging all that junk off the transom only makes it slower.

70@5800 is pretty good. When you say custom 4 blade you mean it has been tuned? Does it have vents? Is it bogging down or screaming taking off?

    Turning a 25p at 5800 a 23 will hit the rev limiter.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if those numbers were then or now. If they are indeed NOW with his full load, he needs to start by adding more exhaust venting to his *custom* prop....

Twitch...the Bravo 1 with the big holes woke up my Sprint 207 without blowing out. I run heavy and no problems with hole shot which made me do away with all the evinrude props that I've ever run....I strongly recommend to try them....
