    Anybody recognize this motor part...

200 Pro XS suddenly loss power and acted like it had fouled plugs, it had enough power to get on plane and run at about 40-45 mph.

Got it home and took the cowling off and found this piece in the bottom of the cowling. Looked all over and I dont see where it came from.
Was hoping someone might recognize it...

My exact thoughts...Teleflex makes throttle cables/hot foot cables and shift linkage cables. I can't make out all the numbers in picture #1 but I bet if he google search those numbers along with the word Teleflex he will find out what it is. As a pure guess it looks like a throttle cable.

When I got the boat in 2013 they installed a hotfoot the day i picked it up.

my throttle linkage seems fine and working, could this be a part removed when they installed the hotfoot?

    Thanks

Well, to second everyone else- it's a throttle or shift cable end. They should attach fairly close to each other on the left side of the engine. The foot installers could have cut it to make install of the new cable easier. Perhaps they accidentally dropped it in the bottom cowling, and it picked today to jump out and jam up the throttle cable? This could explain your problems today.

Definitely a shift or throttle cable end. I had the same problem earlier this year it was a coil pack gone bad.

Since you got some RPM it obviously isn't the throttle cable or the shift cable, maybe it works an advance mechanism. Go to the motor specific page if you haven't already.

If you would please take a moment and include your motor number. I think that's what Don says. So be sure to include it.

Looks like a throttle cable end. With a clean cut end it must have been left behind when they installed the hotfoot and new cable. Assuming it must have gotten caught on your throttle cable or linkage some how.

From you description and the pic I’d guess it’s a timing cable.
It advances your timing as you give more throttle.

They cut that end off, to tape the new cable to the old, to fish it back to the hotfoot. That end gets caught as in move s through the side cavity. The hot foot side of the new cable is a bit more streamlined, one small plastic bulb. They must have left it behind after cutting it.

Takes a longer cable when you install a hotfoot. That's the end they cut off your existing cable to pull the new one through.

Its a sphincter. Goes in the rear end of a 61 Chevy. Dealer part only.

Throttle cable end probably left there when they put in your hotfoot. Sloppy work to say the least.
