    USS Bonhomme Richard

    On fire in San Diego.

18 injured, but crew is accounted for.

Nothing scarier than a naval fire.

At least they were at port and not at sea, obviously we would have very large problem then.

Shipyard fires are much more dangerous then being at sea. Lots of hoses that compromise water tight integrity can't set zebra very throughly. Was on the USS Midway during a fire import that was in a main engineering space very crazy and scary.

Yes, on the fire, while at dock. We used to have drills and fire watch. Wishing the sailors are ok. That's an old ship. I remember when it was active.

It is the "new" Bon Homme Richard and LHD (amphibious assault ship) composite Marine aviation component and grunts to hit the beach. I believe the one you are referring to was a Vietnam era CVA (SCB 27 up-grade of a carrier from WW2).

No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.

If I was the CINC I would be concerned about the crew safety, then I would be pissed off and have somebody's ass for starting it. Somewhere procedures were violated. This costs a lot of money and reduces our readiness.
