    Oil Leak?

Slight oil leak apparently where the midsection meets the cavitation plate. Engine only has 2.5 hours on it. Is this the known problem?

Check under the cowling for any signs of oil leakage.

Check the engine oil level as well (see FAQ Section for instructions).

This really should be inspected by an Authorized Dealer- your new engine should not be leaking oil.

Pulled the cowl, and did not see anything pooling with the cowl. It does not help that Mercury used a paint on the majority of parts that makes it look like they are wet with oil. What I did fine was on the right side of the motor (if you are standing behind it) what looks like oil spray on the intake runners for that side. When I looked at where the oil fill and dip stick area is that whole area is completely dry.

Get your dealer to look at this (sooner rather than later). There should not be any oil slashing or spraying around insider the cowling.
