    01 225 efi- checking reeds?

    Serial - OT364202

    hey guys, I have a 01 225efi. What I am wondering is if there is a way to check the reeds without taking apart the intake manifold... I have had some chris Carson reeds sitting around, installed on the reed blocks that I have been holding out and from installing. However, I’m struggling to run the top end speeds I should be running. I have multiple props I have tried. Also have a hydraulic jackplate and settings don’t seem to make much difference. I just did a compression check and all 6 cylinders are 108-112. Boat runs great with nothing that stands out that something is wrong... but now I’m thinking I should check the reeds and maybe install the CCR reeds I have. Are they hard to install? Thanks.

    Not hard to put on at all, took me an afternoon with the service manual. I would put the CCRs in as soon as you can. Ya never know when a steel one will let go...

    Have to remove the reed plate to effectively inspect/check the reeds.
