If you post what motor, boat, propeller, pitch, RPMs, speed, etc. and tell us what it’s doing or not doing. Then you can get some recommendations. But not until then.

I have the same question !! 2002 Ranger 205vx 225 Optimax Trophy 25 1/2 Plugs best I can get is 53@5200. 6” Hyd Jack Plate. Works fine except at Clear Lake, Ca where it “Blows Out as it starts to break over even lowering the plate. Clear Lake is mostly shallow 2-15’, but it still happens in deeper water too. Clear Lake is 1400 elevation, but works fine at 1087 on the highest I normally fish. Could the extra 300 feet make that much difference ??

Many of the big block motors on heavy boats and loads don't like a small diameter prop, small tube, and without a flared barrel.... Like a trophy plus.

What would be your suggestion ? It seems to run ok with a Tempest 25 as far as getting up on plane, but still only around 54 at 5300

You guys that run in higher elevations need to prop your boat for horse power it makes at those altitudes . A 25 pitch woulD be fine At low elevations . But your basically running less than what the sticker is on the motor . Drop down a pitch or two and get the motor in the correct rpm range .
