F75 four stroke Tach quit working

I have a 2006 F75 four stroke that the tach is stuck on 1000 RPM. Does not move regardless of engine on or off. There is 12.7 volts to the appropriate connections on the back but I don’t know how to check the signal from the motor. I have a DVOM but it does not have a HZ reading.
I did move the calibration dial back and forth several times and returned it to the original setting (5). As I understand it, this is to remove any possible corrosion from the contacts.
    All help is appreciated.

I am guessing that it is a Faria tach. Over the years I have bought two new Xpress bass boats with Faria tachs and had Faria replace the faulty tachs which came with the boats.

Yes it is a Faria Tach. I have tried to diagnose the problem, did not want to invest in a new Tach and it not fix the problem. I have the Repair Manual for my motor but it does not address the Tach signal. I can’t even determine if it originates in the ECU or rectifier module.
Hope someone can shed some light on this, I hate not understanding things.
