Light colored wrap on top of boat to make it cooler?

Anyone ever put a light colored wrap on the top part of the boat (above the gunnel) to help cool your boat down? Mine is all black and summertime fishing is brutal. I don't have a need or desire to wrap the whole boat. Just wondering if anyone has done a white wrap (or similar) on just the top half and inside areas?

I have had black boats, the cap was no hotter than a red, green, or blue cap. The carpet was the culprit. Black boat had light grey carpet, green boat has dark green carpet. Green is hotter

White gel is substantially cooler than red, silver, black flakes. Dark Carpet will make it warmer. But my dark grey carpet is cooler than the red glitter

This is like comparing Arizona heat to TN heat. Hot is just plain hot.

My Tracker is all raw silver aluminum on the top of the boat with light grey carpet and it will par broil your nut sack here in FL. right now. It gets so hot under the lids it will almost blister the skin on your arms if you touch it. I have to turn my live well spray nozzle upside down to spray the lid to keep it cool so the fish don't boil. I'm doing some checking now on installing some foam wall board to see if that helps. It's just HOT!

Well you guys are no help at all! LOL

I appreciate the good honest feedback. Definately don't want to spend money to get the same results.

Crappie Bob - Lay a white towel over the top of your livewell lid when you aren't moving around. Bunch it up a little bit to provide a little more buffer, you will be surprised how much it helps. Will drop your livewell temp by 10 degrees at least.

You could but the maintenance of the wrap will prolly not be worth it. But its cheap enough to try it, if your capable of trying it yourself.

You really expect me to believe that black gelcoat is no hotter than white.
