BassCat makes a 203 hybrid that is a Champ hull with a Puma or Cougar cap, if you want one.

Owners were loyal, but they just we're not getting new boats often enough. Just guessing but probably throw in some management issues too.

Charger boats is currently making 2 Champion hulls, the 198 and the 210 with the 3rd to hit the market sometime in the future...

    In a nutshell:

Bad management in Mt. Home, they sold great just bad management, went bankrupt, were bought out by Genmar and move to Tenn., turned into the bastard child, sold ok.

Genmar went bankrupt and sold to Platinum Equity, moved to Flippin AR where Ranger and Triton was made, rebadged a Stratos, rejected by the ChampioN faithful and they killed the brand.

P&E sold them to Bass Pro Shop along with Ranger, Triton, Stratos. They killed the Stratos brand, then bought Legend and killed that brand, moving Triton from Flippin to the Legend plant in Midway AR.

They had to stop when it was proven that rough water actually existed.

More like the Chuck Norris of the bass boats, when rough water sees a Champion hull it calms right down.

They use the Champion molds not the Charger molds.

I just looked at their lineup. Some have totally different rear ends. Flat vs flared or whatever.

The "Elite" boats 198 and 210 are pure Champion hulls they splashed a orginal hull to make their molds. Only thing they changed is the cap. The rest of their line up is Charger hulls.

I have never been in a Champion. Is the rough water ride better than Basscat?

IMO, and I own both, the wide body boats don’t ride as good as the narrow beamed boats did in rough water. I think Basscats 203 shows that.

You are correct that the skinny Mt. Home boats rode better than the wider TN boats. That's why BCB chose the 203 hull and not the wide body.

champion owners always said that. Passengers, former owners or anybody that ever rode in anything else never did.
