My ex BIL is a welder/fabricator all his life and I had hope of him teaching me to do a little bit of welding so I could mess around in my shop but that all went down the drain when my sister decided she didn't want to be married anymore.....

I was a decent MIG and stick welder back in the day (25-30 years ago). Never got into TIG welding, although it fascinated me. I do enjoy watching a true craftsman lay down a bead.

    Those welds are art.

I weld. Somewhere under those blobs I just made is a lack of penetration. The bigger the blob, the better the job.

I would never buy off any of my welds, but most times they work.

Better than mine! I gave up Mig for Tig, like it a lot better! Have Arc and Tig on the same machine (Miller)

Been at it 25 years and this isn't impressive to a welder lol. He isn't bad, but he isn't impressive.

Stick welding is almost becoming a lost art. Wire feed is easier to teach.

I like welding stainless steel with the TIG, it seems to always turn out nicer than my aluminum welds.

It's all fun and games until you got to do the grinding.
