Ac may be the best thing ever invented

I have been having ac issues the past couple years in my house. I have American home shield. They finally approved to have a new outside unit put in. It has been last Friday when it went out last so I have been without air for a week. It’s supposedly on its way.

Came home from work just today to an inside temp of 90. Two new AAA batteries into the thermostat was the fix thank God!! Lesson learned for sure.

It will probably be at least Tuesday before I will be able to have it. I have fans in most of the windows at night and it has cooled it pretty good at night except it’s humid air so everything is sticky. Today was the hottest so I went and bought a small window unit.

I remember spending many weekends at my Aunts house in the country which had no AC. Didnt bother me. The older I get the more I feel like moving north for the summer not south for the winter.

Never thought about it but guess it’s nice having two units up and down.

The high next week is 100+ for like 9 consecutive days. I'd die without it.

My brother works in the HVAC world and very rarely turns his AC on. Him and his wife have a competition every year to see who'll break first... Now he does have a whole house fan that does wonders...

AC has made life a lot more tolerable, but it has also made us lazy... Dan

We also have American Home Shield so this thread got me to thinking about coverage. The way I read it they will only pay $1500.00 per covered year for ac replacement or repair. I thought if they could not fix it they would replace it. Maybe it is not such a good deal..

I thought that too at first but I think it’s only if you have a geothermal system or some other weird system. My repair guy said they would cover it all. Saved me 3 grand.

American Home Shield was terrible for me. I couldn't get them to cover anything. The techs would come out and say this or that needed a repair, charge me $80 and it would last for while, then need another repair and another $80. They will do anything to get out of doing a replacement. If you are lucky enough to get a replacement, your work order will be the lowest priority behind actual paying customers...
