The high school team I boat for has a tournament on the Allegheny river at the Deer Creek launch. I've never been there. Do you need a jet to run the river? I know some of the river tournaments we fish are on rivers that have some deep water, but many run jets and run to better areas.

It is in Harmer, Pa. No you do not need a jet. This is just above Pittsburgh, plenty of water between the locks. A lot of islands nesrbthe launch.
