Just don't wax satin.
Matte/satin Black 100% for the look for me... HOWEVER, as Billn stated... DO NOT wax or use any cleaner with a wax or polish in it. It will polish the satin finish away. Get a spray cleaner that is specifically for matte finishes. Also, if you go with Matte Black I'd recommend not going with a motor cover or make sure it's a really tight fitting cover. My new motor had not even seen water yet and I bought a cover to protect it (vented cover so I could also leave it on to run) and the drive home with the wind hitting the cover actually shinned several little spots on the upper cowling. Not scratched at all, but actually small polished lines... But I guess I'd rather have that then a buddy making a bad cast and smacking the cowling with a lure and not being able to buff out the scratch... I'm happy with the Matte Black... looks awesome I think...
Depends which one looks better on your boat. Personally, I like the matte black vice the shiny finishes.

Mine is matte black. think it sites off the ss 250
Wax shouldn't take the matte finish off, but it should look like crap and be hard to get off the matte.
I vote for the matt/satin black. They look so cool!
Eapecially with the shiny red decals looks Bad Ass
I hate matte unless its a classic cars chassis parts. Gloss black for me!

I have the matte black and I have polished it with ProTec and I haven't seen any degradation of the paint or any issue. IDK
