    Sailors

Any sailors serve as Master at Arms? I was tad to the USS AULT in the Tonkin gulf, for 30 days. I didn't know anyone and felt very uncomfortable. I was told that the ship was having drug problems. It wasn't too long, before I found out why I was there, along with two other guys from larger vessels. A small crew and corrupt MA's. I hated every minute of it. Fighting, name calling, disrespect, insubordination. Just a crazy situation. The three of us were learning, (on the job)! We finally confronted the Captain, about the lack of confinement onboard. We ended up having the Marines from the aircraft carrier escort 11 detainees. I was glad that was over with. In all 23 crewmembers were charged with different crimes. I found out later that most of the fleet was having similar issues. Any stories about your experience?

I was part of the MarDet on the "Connie", same problems times 10 (5000+ personnel on the ship). Between the drugs and racial problems, you had to watch who you pissed off doing your duty, or you'll be taking a midnight swim. My last six months on board I was moved down to the brig to work. When they say bread and water, that's what they got. But everyone knew who the brig guards were, and once in awhile they would try to test us. They would lose.
