Almost there upgrading opinions please before I make the jump

Currently have 2 10” Helix g2b si networked with the hub along with a ulterra, one unit at bow and one at console.

Debating between these two scenarios, hoping to place order by end of week

    1.

bass boat tech mount at console
    upgrade 10 on console with g3n 12”
run mega 360 direct wire to g3n (assuming based on humminbird compatibility note) I can share the mega 360 image to the gen 2 units if I read this correct
run dual bass boat tech bow mount with 2 10” g2n

replace my dual si to the new transducer and keep high speed
might need a new y for the two new SI transducers

    2.

bass boat tech mount at console with steering spacer
    run solix 15 at console
    run solix 12 at bow
    mega 360
    new glasses in transducer
buy all new wiring adapters for high speed and transom dual si setup

Obviously option 2 is much more expensive
option 1 seems easier in terms of running the wires

I spend a lot of time up front when fishing with two usually bass
I spend a lot of time just sitting at console when I’m with family marking fish, either way I want a larger console screen

Are my assumptions correct in terms of compatibility ?

Thank you so much in advance, I want to make sure I cover everything before I spend this kind of money

Some stuff you have not considered with #1:

The G3N units use HW CHIRP for 2D sonar.
If you want depth for the MEGA 360, you have to connect a transducer that has HW=change the high speed transducer.
The MEGA 360 uses the SI circuits, so you will not have the use of Side Imaging from one or two Side Imaging transducers. AND you will have to keep the MEGA 360 deployed to have SI from the 360.
Don't need a new Y cable for the high speed or the transom SI transducers.

You are awesome Wayne.... so I’ll have to upgrade two displays then to use Si transom mount transducers if I want the new 12 at console on option 1.

Id like to use Si going a tad faster than when my trolling motor is deployed at console. If I am reading this correctly I will not be able to run the new si along with mega 360 off one unit (even though one transducer -si or 360 is turned off).

That certainly changes things again with my cost analysis

And either way I’m glassing in a new 2d

The MEGA 360 connects to the SI circuits so it is impossible to use the SI piezos in a SI transducer with a MEGA 360 connected. "turned off' has nothing to do with it, there are no wires connecting the SI piezos.

yes thank you Wayne. The option would be to run it 360 at bow but that defeats my main purpose of getting a larger console.

Thanks again, I think I am going all out and going solix option two

    Wayne,

One last question, will this also work for speed on plane ? Glassing it in requires me to stuff one of my young kids in the bilge since I can barely get in there

XNT-14-HW-T Dual Spectrum CHIRP TM Transducer with Temp for SOLIX™

That is the correct transom mount HW 2D sonar transducer. Whether or not to use it depends on your hull's design and speed capability, PLUS your skill in attaching it so it can work properly at speed. You can use it for shoot-thru if that doesn't work out so well.

    Wayne,

Can I use AD 1429 adapter to run a standard 2d puck into a Solix, then using the Y for hi speed and Si?

The idea is just leaving the old 2D puck in there for hi speed depth mainly. Obviously Inwould not get the advantage of using the latest tech for 2d when going at higher speeds

    Thanks

    The AD 1429 converts a 7-pin transducer to a 14-pin connection.
7-pin is "standard" for the number series and Helix.
    14-pin is "standard" for ONIX/ION/SOLIX.

Yes you can do that then turn off Auto Configure and select HB 83/200 kHz for 2D sonar.
A Y cable disconnects (no wires) the 2D piezo in a SI transducer and connects (wires) the added 2D transducer in its place. You don't get to use the HW piezo in the SI transducer at any speed.

Thanks Wayne. So it looks like a trade off any way unless just bring the bullet and installed the latest transducers.

Hopefully this thread will help others as well who make the switch
