    hard steering

I have a 2011 nitro z7. When im running out on plane its hard to steer to the left but steers easy to the right. It has hydraulic steering. Also when idling it constantly goes to the left or right

Sounds like the valves inside the helm are not performing correctly.

Have you looked inside the helm? What does the oil look like?

Having the engine set too high can cause hard left steering too, even with hydraulic steering. Check the prop to pad height, about 3.5” under is a good starting point.

What rip bass said. Level boat and motor, measure pad to ground, measure center of prop shaft to ground, subtract it and you have your prop to pad.

I don't have this issue on my hydraulic steering boat.

First thing I would do is bleed the system. A boat will normally oscillate to the left and right when idling or at low speeds.

Prop to pad set to high
    Trimming motor to high
Wrong prop for the height being ran
Needs a torque tab on the lower unit
Proper set up running flat out you will have some pull to the right resulting in more effort to turn left
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Lower the engine and see how it is down a 1/2”. Just keep going down by 1/4” after that till you get the steering torque manageable.

    ok i have a z7
    i had the same problem
so here we go 1 check all your hose connections i had a tiny oil weep on the cylinder fixed that with a seal kit , also found a weep of oil on the fill /top up hose on the top of the helm(loose ) hose connection
2 go to youtube and see how the pros bleed the system there are a couple of tips that really help
then enjoy driving your boat again

sorry forgot it is air in the system how to check, while your boat is on the trailer see how much play you a have when you push the lower unit to left and right ( got this off you tube to ) remember you can compress air but not a liquid
    love you tube
