    FORTREX...foot button inconsistent Y?

THE MK ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN HASSLING ME:

    ==================================

My 2016 FORTREX 112 began to exhibit inconsistencies a couple months ago as far as "engaging when stepping on the raised foot button"...

really no pattern except cannot engage half the time unless increase speed like from 30% to 60% and pushing the pointer right...that seems to engage it for a while...until I get off the button.

have taken troll to the "MK troll dealer"...

    he replaced the foot board.....

(which reduced this maybe by half but did not eliminate it...

seems light slow pressure more likely to engage than steeping on the button and holding it there to work a pad field edge standing up etc

(there is a spring under the button that may need to be stretched was a guess of mine that I could do myself in 2 minutes)

    ANY IDEAS?

You can replace the button itself. Magnetic could be getting week. Put a new spring.

The problem is the proximity switch , under the pedal follow the small wire up to the little cylinder shaped switch try to push the switch up in its holder then push your foot pedal button it will push the switch or cylinder back down and hopefully set it .The only way to replace the switch is a whole new board.
The spring is to raise the plastic foot button back up away from the proximity switch

The last I knew the reed switch was available separately but you have to solder or use crimp connectors to connect the wires.

Yes I've looked at electronic places online and you can't quite get the same # I've even put a caliper on it and there is one that's close number and size .

just found a schematic for it online (Fortrex 112 45 inch 2015)...(https://schematics.mikesreelrepair.c....php?album=412)...

the odd thing is the schematic shows the spring (part 350) below the mall shaped "button" (part 345) but it was on top of the button for my unit...

so EXACTLY where does the spring sit.fit/go???

Attachment 414756 The parts 345 and 350 are upside-down vs my Fortrex...is this just a schematic mistake or my spring is wrong or what???

Scroll past parts page to the control board do you see momentary switch that what you need to push up in its holder then push your pedal button to set the depth of switch see if that helps

The spring should be one the little tit next to the reed switch not on the reed switch. It mates up with the cross on the push button.

I went back to check the part number for the reed switch kit. Link below is the foot pedal break down.
It is part 474. It is kit with reed switch and phone connectors to connect the wires.

Update July 12:...still an issue with engaging after maybe 90-120 minutes of fishing ......after easy adjustments did not help ....
got new foot board ($250) and free new foot button with magnet...
MK troll man is very experienced...next he said bring boat back Tuesday 7/14 with batteries drained some...will test batteries...
were new in Oct 2018 but I do fish 3x a week many weeks
so probably 4 years of wear in 2 years since new...and do fish a fast style....

anyway, looks like new troll batteries this week and a new Fortrex 112 as a Christmas gift to myself...
