Anyone use the 3d part of 3d structure scan? If so, what fishing style you use it for? I think it would be good for trolling.
Thanks
Steve

I use it whenever I have people on board with limited knowledge of SideScan, it is very helpful when it comes to training.
I have but don't use it. I would like to learn how to use it. Guess I need to go to the late without rods so I can't fish and learn.
Got any pointers?

Plus 3D has extreme range up to 600 feet each way and only runs 455 khz. We also use 3D during our On The Water schools. PM us for details.
I've found it to be not overly accurate when its drawing the bottom. Regular SI provides a better picture IMO. The 3D ducer though is fantastic for SI and DI.

Do you guys notice a difference with not being able to switch it back to 800khz?
I like it to show how steep a bank drops off.

I spend some time split screen with 2d and fine tune the 3d until it matches what 2d is seeing.
I like the different perspective it gives on fish returns. And for showing holes on the bottom.
3D is great for helping find shallow channels on flats and other very subtle depressions.

How does the 3d do on ledges? It show ledges very good?
yes
I use 3D to show fish on the sides of humps, ledges/dropoffs. Without the 3D view some of these fish blend into the bottom, but with the 3D view they show above the bottom.
