Hummingbird mega g2n transducer question

I know some guys who are runing the mega g3n transducer on g2n unis and he says it works great. Has anyone else heard this?? If that does work can I buy a mega DI unit only and then switch out to the mega SI transducer?

Using the MEGA + transducer with G2N has its risks since the default frequency for G2N is 83/200 kHz. The unit must be set to use the HW CHIRP frequency. Read this entire thread that discusses it: http://www.bbcboards.net/showthread.php?t=1022195

You cannot add Side Imaging to a Down Imaging unit by changing the transducer. If you get a DI unit, it does 2D sonar and Down Imaging ONLY unless you add Side Imaging by adding the MEGA 360. You need a G3N unit to do that.
