    Cougars in Wallburg, NC

If you are in the Wallburg area there have been 2 cougars spotted here is a video. Davidson Co Sheriff has been called to warn people after a biologist confirmed the sighting.

I think this video is pigs, but there maybe other evidence they have found

My previous neighborhood in Dallas area had bobcats. They never bothered anyone, but you would see them around the neighborhood once in a while. These are BIG cats. I've seen several photos of them just laying on top of people's wood fences. Biggest issue is that they will take a small dog.....

The sightings are roughly 2-3 miles from me. It is funny you say bobcats I have personally seen a bobcat walk out of the power line field next to my house 7 years ago. It was the size of a German Shorthair pointer I was shocked how big it was.

We have someone that has/had a black leopard within a mile from me it got out a couple years ago when young. One of the officers told a neighbor it was a leopard and they were aware of it, but they were legally keeping it so they cannot do anything about it. Every once in a while I can hear a big cat from the direction they keep it. I have attached a picture of the cage where it is kept.

Odd there were 2 of them. I thought they didn’t group together unless it was mating season. They didn’t look very big to me.

They suspect a mom and cub from what I understand.

That looked like pigs to me but the quality is really bad.

I saw one of those monsters mystery shows a couple years ago that was shot down east. Woman had a pitbull with its neck snapped identified a recording of a cougar as what she heard. The film crew never captured anything but after the left, a couple of local guys that had been investigating it as well caught it on a trail cam and it was clearly a cougar.

Cougars/panthers/pumas sightings happen many, many times in NC every year. Confirmations on these sightings have been made on a few. Never seen one myself in all the years i have hunted.

Lol Davidson county cougars . Those morons in that county wouldn’t know what a cougar was if it fell in their pants. I used to know a guy that was a dispatcher in that area and he told me they called about possible Sasquatch sightings all the time.

So you are saying Davidson county people are morons .
A mistake on your part does not constitute a emergency on my part.

is this a trick question? It has been proven to be the most illiterate place in North Carolina(and the whole world imho). Dumbest and strangest breed of people I’ve ever encountered and unfortunately I know from experience as I lived there for a much longer period of time than I wanted to so this thread came as no surprise to me

You do realize the northern Davidson Co area is one of higher educated and highest income in the area. With that said I have doubts of a cougar myself because most of the people in the area are not outdoorsman. The Bigfoot bs came from the fool saying a Bigfoot was eating candy bars. The video was clearly a man, but BFR came out and had a big hunt for one that was televised. I promise you those same calls happen in your county too.

Here is the picture that prompted the Davidson Co Sheriff to call people. They apparently have a specialist brought in to the area trying to find this animal.
I would been interested in what people see (I do not want to bias people with my opinion). The picture quality is poor at best. You can click on it to enlarge.

I worked a public job in the northern Davidson area for 8-9 years.....and I can assure you that even those there that make the highest income are some of the least educated. I’m not gonna argue about it though. I know from personal experience. There is no other place like it.

As for the picture. It’s really impossible to make anything out. You could literally make anything out of that picture if you wanted to. The video looked like pigs to me but that was hard to make out as well. If for some reason it was a cougar it was probably something that escaped from a zoo or domestic area. Years ago there was a chimpanzee that got out of the nc zoo and was shot by a deer hunter nearby. They called the ncwrc and thought that they had killed Bigfoot. So yes those calls happen in other places.

I do agree if this does turn out to be a Cougar it is likely one that escaped some where. There have been reports of livestock being attacked for years though. There was a horse actually that survived an attack from what was believed to a large cat 5 years ago. Wildlife said bobcat, but N.C. Zoo said it looked like a cat attack, but not a bobcat. That made all of the local news networks. I am not sure if these sightings has made the news I have stopped watching it for the most part. I now know someone personally that said they seen it Friday night. This person is an outdoorsman and knows Wildlife.

Here is a picture that was just posted claiming it was the cougar. It is the best picture so far I have seen claiming to be the animal. I thought it could be a large cat, but looking closer this could be a cougar. Not having something to scale this animal with makes it hard to tell for sure.

One thing for sure is something unusual is roaming around Friendship Ledford, Gumtree, and midway school rd. There has been too many sightings in the last 3 - 4 weeks to deny it.

There are plenty of Cougars in NC. The sad part is that there are more alley cats!
