In the market for a used boat, budget is 10-15k although I could go higher I’d prefer to be closer to 10k. I think Stratos boats are some of the best looking boats in the 2000-2005 model years. Wondering what I should be aware of with Stratos boats, especially in those model years and if I should avoid anything older than a 2000 as I read that pre-2000 had wood transoms??
Any input appreciated.
motors wil be biggest worry in that time frame---fichts-early opti pops- efi----one with a efi or newer motor best 04 and up rude likely fine
i have a 2000 ficht and it has been great but many weren't. if the price is where you can repower later if needed it is a good deal likely also check the trailer for rust issues

I love my 05 275 Pro xl. Get the motor checked out first and you can work with the rest of it to make it yours. If the seller won't let you get a mechanic to check it out and take you for a test ride, walk/run.
I have a 2002 18xl. Only thing I Have replaced are the pumps And battery charger, they were still working I just did it to upgrade.
gauges all still work and the finish and carpet has held up great. Original seats with no tears.

03 18XL here with an 03 Johnson 175 & it's been a great trouble free boat & motor. I've had a few stratos boats both new & use4d & they've all been great.

Some 1999 and 2000 model 19SS and 20SS boats were recalled for a bad hull mold. Affected boats were prone to bow hook at speed, but were recalled for hull replacement. I can't believe any bad hulls are still out there, but you never know. BTW, I have a 2000 19SS Extreme and its been a great boat.

Based on your budget at the high end you could get a 2003-2005 stratos 201 pro xl. Keep in mind any boat you might purchase might need some updating, electronics or trolling motor. The pro xl is smooth, fast, and has lots of storage.
