    Johnson leaking

Posting for my son in law. This is a 1989 Johnson/Tracker 110 hp that is leaking, and losing compression. These are the pics that he sent me. Is that a seal? Any idea what is involved in repair? He is trying to figure out if it may be worthwhile to fix. Thanks

That is the gel seal between the two halves of the block.....you might get lucky and check the torque on the 1/4-20 bolts and see if it is loose.....otherwise it needs to be torn down and resealed. The gurus here may have some ideas.....

That may not be gel seal, looks like it could be silicon, anyway Bassmeister is correct. You would have to remove the front half of the crankcase, clean it and follow the OMC service manual to reseal. Now this is just a short answer for a fairly big project, a lot more to do if done right.

If duct tape or a hammer won't fix it then it must be an electrical problem
