Your best bet on a place to stay would be a private cottage or cottage rental. Most hotels are not set up for boats and charging, just sightseers. Wandawood resort is on Elk lake, which is a good lake and part of the torch chain also. There are tons of lakes that are good if the bay is just too windy. Long, duck, green, leelanau, torch, elk, bellaire, platt, skegemog. All within a half hour drive of traverse city itself.

If the wind is blowing too bad for the bay or other large lakes, head to Cedar. Its a small lake, but holds some good fish.

We rented a place on Duck Lake and were able to fish Green as well. Spent time on East Bay as well. We stayed a week and picked a flat calm day to fish the bay. Awesome to be in 30 ft of water and see them take your drop shot. Awesome area and as mentioned earlier a lot of fishable water up there.
