Yep. If theyre the ones the pads fall off and theres a new version out there would you just go ahead and get them, or get the revised version and treat the ones on the shelf like an expired loaf of bread?

After 40 years I just agree with them, yep shelf life like a loaf of bread. Yep all spark plugs are made that way, yep water pump too, yep.
You guys are over looking one thing, a loaf of bread has a use by date.
Spark plugs do too, so do water pumps....

I'm retired also and cut my grass yesterday, and if you would please show me where the expiration date is on a spark plug box. I will agree that a rubber water pump will probably deteriorate over time, just sitting on the self.
If your retired you probably cant see it anyway.
I have always found the use by date on the newer plugs.
You just miss me......
