    Back to Balsa

Started playing with carving balsa cranks a couple years ago and had some success but got busy with work and ran out of time really. With all this stuck at home stuff I decided what better to do than pick it up again. Even though I wasn't building during the last year I was still reading and researching different techniques. Finally landed on one I liked. Then burned up some plastic blanks to find a paint job I liked and could do with my rookie airbrush skills. I like how it turned out can't wait to go test.

    Fantastic!!!

Did you carve as one piece, or two halves glued together?

Just did as one piece with twisted wire screw eyes. Finally gave it a test in the water and it had a good wiggle to it. I think it'll work out good. Just started cutting some more bodies yesterday.

Thank You! I need to get it out on the water and see how deep I can hit. In the big in ground pool I tested in it was diving pretty good but you can only tell so much obviously. I'm guessing 5-8 foot. I'm making some more with the line tie moved back towards the bait just experimenting. Probably try a wider lip next. Just learning the ins and outs.

That is part of the fun and madness. I always try to adjust one thing at a time so you know what is affected by the change.
