    2002 HPDI smoking on start up

    Seems like my motor has started smoking more at start up. Causes? Things I can do to help the old fella?

    Ditto on mine but it is not consistent. Happens once every 5-6 times out.

    The thing I noticed on my 05 is the longer it sits between uses the more it smokes typically. I have also heard if you switch to a different oil they smoke less then the Yamalube brand.

    I have heard good things about Seafoam Marine Pro. I just started using it, doubt it will change the intermittent smoking but we will see.

    The low pressure fuel pumps could be the culprit. If your ball never really gets hard when you pump it, that is a sign they are bad.
