    1000 Islands/St. Lawrence/Greak Lakes spinning rod

What are you using? Drop shot, neds, tubes, boot tail swim baits, etc.? How about a reel to match? Where are you fishing and what with what you suggest? Thanks for the help. Best wishes on the water!

^^This. I don’t fish Great Lakes but this rod handles all the techniques you described very well. Spent two days catching smallies on Mille Lacs with it this spring too, very well matched. I’m using a 2500 Certate XH.

Phenix Feather 7'7"M or M1 7'8"M will cover what you're looking for very nicely. I've got the Feather off the shelf, a Feather blank I built and the M1 blank I built. Phenix powers are over-rated so a M is closer to a ML or at least on the lighter end of what I'd call M. Pair it with a 3000 Ballistic or a 3000 Ci4, either one would be great combo that you don't need a credit check for...

I use a pair of Champion DC 733SF XP's. for Erie tubes, and sometimes drop shots, and smaller swimbaits. I pair them with Daiwa Tatula LT 4000 spinning reels.

Here's a couple links about them, with Gary Dobyn's opinion, you may like.

Drop Shot- G Loomis 822S DSR
Tubes: G Loomis 892S JWR & G Loomis 893S JWR (893 for heavier tube heads and jigs)
    Ned: G Loomis 902S SJR
Swimbaits: G Loomis 852S JWR (very versatile)

These five cover most of my smallmouth spinning anywhere I fish.

Late to the party, but I agree 100% with this. I've handled $500+ rods like NRXs and K2s and while the Feather series isn't quite there, it's really, really close. A custom build on one of the blanks is does get you there, in my opinion. At 1/3 the price, it is a no brainer.

Only difference is I'd stick a BG on it and go fishing. The BGs I have are better than my Tatula LT that cost me nearly twice as much.
