I’m getting ready to upgrade my maxxum and I’m considering either the Ulterra or Ultrex. Will the foot pedals fit into the recessed tray? I’ve read a bunch of good reviews regarding the Ultrex on here but not much about the Ulterra. Does anyone have an Ulterra on an RT?

The Ultrex will fit but I don’t know about the Ulterra. However, I have a friend with an Ulterra, and it is very wide and flat, even if it fir, I don’t think it would stand up high enough to operate with your foot.

If you have not used the pedal on the Ulterra, you need to find one and try it out. It is BY FAR not what you are used to with the Maxuum. I used one for a week once and everything has pluses and minuses, but I think you would like the operation of the Ultrex better.

I for sure prefer the Ultrex operation to the Ulterra. Everything is a plus or minus depending on who you talk with. The Ultrex pedal fits the RT188 pan. I can't speak to the Ulterra. I will say the 2K I spent on the Ultrex was worth every penny. I've sat in 2' of water between stumps for hours at a time on Sickmarsh to sitting rock solid in pretty heavy current on the local river, also for hours.
I upgraded from the Maxxum 70 to an Ultrex 80 45" on my '16 RT188.
Some people said their mounting holes lined up but mine did not.
If they would have the head of the Ultrex would have been 18" over the side of the gunwale.
I have it mounted so the head is inside the gunwale and the Ranger cover still fits.

Please post pictures of how you mounted the Ultrex. Mine is installed in the original holes from my MAXXUM and it does stick over the gunwale more than I like.Originally Posted by BigDozer66

If you do decide on the Ultrex, you can change the bow guard on your MAXXUM to a Fortrex bow guard and be able to use your MAXXUM as a backup in case you have to send the Ultrex in for repair. Just remove one bolt to make the changeout using the Ultrex mounting bracket.
