Looking for feedback between the 52" and 45" shaft for a Vexus 1980. The bow looks to sit fairly high. I realize the 52" will be better but wondering if anyone can comment on the 45" in the wind.

Go 52". I had a 45" on my 1980 and in rough chop or wakes, I would get constant blow outs when using spot lock, especially if you and your co-angler are in the back of the boat. The 45" was functional, tracked great and did a solid job holding the boat in calm water. I like to fish ledges etc in summer and with the boat traffic, I wouldn't put a 45" back on the boat.
I have a 52" on my 2080 build.
2021 Vexus 2080, Merc ProXs 200
2019 Vexus 1980, Evinrude G2 150 H.O. - moved onto a new owner
I have a 52 on mine and wouldn't change it for anything.

I have the 45 it does blow out on severe waves, not bad though.

Thank you for the feedback! The boat I am looking at has a 45”
I have a 45” on my AVX1980 and it works fine, but I have it set really low. We never fish in waves big enough to make it a problem, but I know some do. If you fish in big waves a 52” would be better. Not much of a price difference for the 52”.

I have a 45" on a 1980 and like it.
I have 52" on mine and if you fish big or busy lakes you will be glad you have a 52"
