2015 Nitro Z7 set up question....

A friend suggested I ask the BBC community about my issue so here we go...I just purchased a 2015 Nitro Z7...First day out on the water I was doing 48.5-49 mph @ 5000 rpm w/ 150 Mercury Pro XS...23 pitch prop. Lake was pretty calm with a little chop on the water. I'm not expecting to do 65 mph but I think something is wrong. Boat has a hot foot and I have it smashed to the floor and still only getting to 5000 rpm. Do I need to adjust hot foot? I was told I may need to start raising manual jack plate 1/2" increments to find sweet spot...??? Any suggestions are welcome....

    Tight lines,
    Wes

are you max trim up? is the boat plowing or is the nose high?
Do you know prop to pad heights?
Possible motor needs to go up.
possible trim not going all the way up
    possible prop is not good
possible motor is not getting full throttle
possible motor has a bad coil pack
    possible hull has a problem(hooked)
possible boat loaded wrong and balance is too forward so it can not lift bow.

My z7 was best with a 22p. but calm day and only one angler you should be able to get the 23 going and is should do nearly 60

Also add engine maintenance may need to be performed , like change fuel filter and run Quick cleen thru a tank.

    Eliminate the simple things first.

I had a 2015 Z7 with a 150 ProXS before I got my new boat and fully loaded 60 mph was the norm when WOT. 63 by myself and calm waters was attainable.

Have you checked the hull for a hook?

I have had the same problem with my 2011 Z7 with 150 opti. I was running 5000-5200 rpms at 50-52 mph. I would first try setting your jack plate to be at 3.5” prop to pad and see if you can get a couple more mph and possibly more rpms. After raising my motor to 3.5” ptp I am able to run 54 consistently. Have gotten it to 55-56 a couple times. I am however still running 5200 rpms even after lowering pitch which has me confused as to why rpms are not going up. Anyways, I would try that and then see where you are.

Before you start moving anything around, you really need to verify 100% throttle which takes only a minute... otherwise your adjustments are pretty much useless.

What everyone else said, something is wrong for your rpms are low. You have to get to max rpms. I have a 2015 Z7 but I have the 175hp. Mine flies. It's stupid fast but it scares the hell out of me when the chine starts so I stay just under that speed.

Do you have a jack and if so do you know your prop to pad? I just bought this boat and put a 6" jack plate on it and was wanting a starting point right now i have it at 3 3/4" had it at 3 1/4" but seemed to porpoise bad when slowing down and trimming down Cub48

I had the same boat package in 2012 but it came with a 24 pitch, 62 mph.

My 2013 Z7 with a 150 runs 60-62 without a jack plate and that is with me and my wife. Prop 24 Temp. Plus.

My 2013 Z7 with 150 ProXS with 24 Tempest Plus would run about 60 without a plate. Now, with Bob's Hydraulic plate and a Power Tech 4 blade 23, it gets much better bow lift and even some stern lift. Speed is a little better. Rpm's at 5700....
