    New AVX1880 Finally Home

    Well she’s finally home, 2020 VX 1880, Zuk DF115SS, 6” manual Jackplate, FLW red and white, white poly floor and coin box lid, deleted the step, Ultrex 80lb and a 9” Elite Ti2 at the dash and I could go on but that covers the most interesting stuff

    Thanks guys. I’ve had her out a couple of times now and it is a great boat. I’ve drank the Vexus KoolAide and it’s good stuff.

    And the Ultrex is quite impressive, there’s a reason why they are so expensive. Wow, I was a hardcore OMC crooked shaft user (still have a few in storage) but this TM is impressive.

    How are you liking the poly floor? Is it slippery?

    I’ve only had the boat out about three times so these are initial impressions;

    floor is nice and cool, strangely cool. As far as slippery I’ve not experienced that but I could certainly see it being an issue on a frosty morning, but the carpet in my last boat could get a little slick on those days.

    The Zuk has made a favorable impression so far. They rigged it with a 24 pitch Trophy Plus. I’ve got the initial 4 hours sub 4K rpm breaking done so I’ve been able to redline it a few times. Hole shot is nice, prop bites well in turns and the boat doesn’t slide. The motor fires almost instantly, cranks maybe three times before it lights, is uber quiet and sips fuel. I filled the tank before the first outing and I figure between the four hour break in run and a couple of short fishing trips I have 6-7 run hours on it and have used less than a quarter of a tank of fuel.

    As for top speed I’ve not really chased that yet, I want to get the rings well seated before any serious runs. That in itself may be a while anyway. I live on a 600 acre lake with a 35 mph speed limit so to get to open it up I need to get out on week days and break the rules. I did that one day last week and saw 46 mph GPS at 5,600 ish rpm. I don’t think the Zuk is going to be the fastest motor on this hull and knew that going in. Living on a lake with a speed limit really took top end numbers out of the decision process for me, or may have even influenced me to go with the least expensive motor option. I am so far liking the motor.

    Edit to add; I have not measured prop to pad or messed with height adjustment. The 46 mph run was solo (200 lbs) liveswells 1/2 full and fishing equipment for me and typical boat accessories.
