    Props... Cougar with 4 stroke

    I have a 2016 Cougar with a 2019 Merc 4 stroke 250.
    2 power poles, 4 batteries.

I've been running a Fury 3 blade 24P worked by Ronnie Gilbert.

In cold weather I've maxed out at 6090 RPM and 79mph. I'm tickled with that.

In this hotter, more humid weather I rarely see 6000 RPM. I'm maxing out about 74mph and 5850-5900 RPM. I've had a Merc service center confirm the motor and hot foot are reaching WOT.

I hit something last week and damaged my prop and lower unit. I'm going through the insurance claim process now.

So, if I want to try another prop, now is the time.

Has anyone tried anything else with the new 4 stroke on the cougar/puma?

I have a SHO, so can't help you.
With poles and 4 batteries, I don't think there is any left.
    79 is really good.

I was just wondering if there were any better choices for hot weather. I can't get anywhere near that 79 when it's hot outside. Stuck closer to 74 and giving up 200+ RPM.

    Same thing here.
I do have a 25 pitch SHO prop that I will change to in the summer, if I'm not too lazy to do it.

Just sent him a text actually. He recommended sticking with the Fury 24P.

I’m buying a fury 4 24p this week. I’m running pretty similar to you in speed. Identical prop and just a tad newer boat and motor. In colder weather I liked everything about the prop. Hot weather I’ve noticed I’ve lost a little out of the hole. I figure the 4 will give me my hole shot back and handle the rough water better. For summer anyways. Just not sure if I should pitch down 1 for the 4 blade?
