There haven't been to many things I haven't seen in the barn over the years. I have been infested with bats for years and have had the pleasure of some barn owls. I've seen snakes, rats, coyotes, skunks you name it.

Today I went to feed and check the water for the laying hens. I walked by one of the tractors I had covered with a plastic tarp. As I got beside it something startled me. There is a bird clinging to the tarp a little lower than my face. I was confused as it wasn't a sparrow and the first thing I thought of was a small owl. I had to do a fast search and it's a small hawk.

I called the wife down to take a look. It's claws appeared to be stuck in the tarp. I used a hoe to gently lift the claws off. No luck as soon as I got one free it would just get stuck. So i gave up and will check on it later. Maybe it will free itself. Right now it is hanging up side down like a bat.
