    Xb2003 Trolling motor shaft length

My boat came with a hand controlled motor guide trolling motor and I want to go back to a foot controlled. What length trolling motor is everyone using?

I went with the 52" Ultrex for the only reason that a 42" Max74 would come out of the water on rough lakes like Amistad when the wind blows 25-30. If you never fish rough water you can get away with a 45".
