    Smoked my first brisket today

Well I will say that is a time consuming process, I never smoked anything before I’ve always just bbq’d it, I learned a lot though. Definitely easier if I would have had sliced wood instead of wood clunks and don’t ever buy a sliding tray smoker “the wife bought it” it’s definitely easier if I had a side door instead because they tray just don’t work and I had to lift the hood to stoke the flame and add wood. That process let’s out to much heat. All in all it tasted excellent. Smoked it about 7hours before it was done. I see many more smoked brisket in my future.

How big was the brisket? I usually have to cook them 8-12 but I have seen anywhere from 6-18 hours. Is it a charcoal smoker or a wood smoker? If it is a wood smoker designed for logs you definitely want to use spilt wood instead of chunks.

Not for me I’ve always just cooked food over charcoal, never was a cooking person but the older I get the more I find myself trying to cook new ways. I’ve always just done the seafood boils and the grill, the wife done all the other cooking

This must not have been a full packer brisket, possibly just a point or a flat? A full brisket is going to take 8-12+ hours and a lot of prep work. Was there any fat you had to trim down? At 6lbs I'm thinking you bought a flat. A full brisket will stall at 175-185ish for a few hours but they are all different.

And you better not have bought that in a Walmart, or within 50 miles of a Bass Pro Shop. Also better have paid cash and not been wearing a jersey while making said purchase.

I bought it at the local bass pro with a 30 years loan with 10% down payments are only $100.00 a month, I did have my jersey on the whole time I smoked it while making YouTube videos about all my pro staff products that I pay half price for but have a minimum purchase deal of $1000.00 worth of product

Damn, I just called the local butcher shop to see what their price was. I want to smoke one for my daughter's birthday this weekend. They said they didn't have any in stock and if they did get any in, they were only getting the full packer and it was $6.99 a lbs.
