I had the issue when starting. It turned out to be a bad battery for me. The hitting the waves sounds like a bad connection for sure
I had a bad plug on the power wires for one of my units. It was new a new plug !

Check the ground wire. I had this issue last year and it ended up being a bad butt connection.
