Merlot or Malbec are my preferred wines with a good steak.

If it's a celebration, we splurge for a Cab from Silver Oak (Napa). Otherwise we like a Pinot Noir from Meiomi.

Typical wine snob. I’d go with the mad dog 20/20.

I love all red wines.. but a sucker for Italian reds! Splurge? Super Tuscan... Antonari Tignenello major $$$.. but my favorite. Another Italian varietal Amirone.. is a sleeper Red.

Of course there are many great cabs, zins and merlots.

Also look for Spanish Rioja reds... tons of bargains..and usually very drinkable..

    Cheers... Gusman
