    Pro tec sealant

Hey guys so I got some pro tec sealant polish and was curious on your outcome....

I added some to a small part of my boat and I find its not really doing all that much? I already cleaned off all existing wax and I had done a buff / cut last season that removed a lot of the scratches and what not but I find the sealant polish doesnt seem to clear up any blemishes or anything.... is that because I should of gotten the nu paint moisturizer first that way it cleans off all existing scuffs (such as shoe scuffs on the top shell)

As of right now I added only 1 coat but you can see all the rub lines from shoes or what not still as it hasn't cleared it off at all.

    thanks

Sounds like you need to machine buff with a 3000 grit compound that finals as a polish....then add the protec or wax product of your choice.

Great product it’s doing exactly what it is supposed to do seal the glass from uv light. The glass must be in perfect condition/shape scratch free before you seal it.

I used the nu paint and it was good stuff for my old gelcoat. I then used the polish. A lot more impressed with the first than the second

Been using on my 15 year old Triton for about 5 years. Just washed and waxed before that. Looks awesome. Wipe down after most every weekend with Lucas after fishing. Holds reflection type shine for 6-8 months. Have been doing two step process every 6-8 months. First evaluate the condition of your gelcoat, then start with the most damaged areas and work through the steps. Quality materials in Protec just as good of a product as many other upper end kits. Everyone has there likes and dislikes. Hope this helps.

Wish I knew i had to do a full out buffing before adding this stuff :/ as for now I had a better turn out using maguires buffing wax and then using maguires gloss wax. as it fills any of the imperfections.

    HI all
I just did a full wetsand and protec renu polish on my 1999 Ranger. I had pretty decent oxidation on the top cap. I wet sanded with 1000, 1500, then 2000. I buffed with the Nupaint moisturizer. This stuff works! My boat looks brand new. I am impressed. I then sealed it with the sealant. I do believe wet sanding is the key to getting the oxidation off first though.
The nu paint polishes it out great. I highly recommend this process and products.

I agree Prot-tec is awesome. i went thru the same process last year... I did have some slight dulling come back on top cat by end of summer, where i had not "moisturized enough", so this winter I did the moisturizer and 2 sealer coats again. Came out great, so now to be sure the UV protection is renewed i give just the top cap another coat of sealer every month. It's so easy to apply now that it takes no time at all (and waiting 1 beer before wiping off). The oxidation hasn't come back at all so far.

In most cases when the oxidation comes back quickly it’s due to not sanding it completely away....

I did my boat last year and It was pretty rough beforehand. I think the issue is you need the nu paint stuff first. I did a quick wet sand with various grits on mine, but if yours isn't bad then I'd do the nu paint with a random orbital buffer (you can get them at CT and they're not too expensive) and a wool pad or a less abrasive one if it's just minor. That step amazed me as I saw the gel coat come back to life. Then use the polish to get the shine and protection.

Wet sand, Use 3m perfect it or finesse it with a polisher. (Not random orbital). Then nu finish. Then two coats of sealant. Will shine like a new penny.

No code. Local marine dealer here in Houston is around $16 per bottle. A few drops go a long way

    hey guys.

i got a couple quick questions!

Do i have to strip the old polish and sealant and show room conditioner with amonia before I re apply a fresh coat of the sealant for the season?

i forgot to buy the nu paint for this season so i figure ill go through another season with just the polish/sealant and use the conditioner as touch up as i go then do a full strip with amonia and their cleaner mixed and apply the nu paint and polish next season.

I can definitely tell there's still an existing coat of the polish/sealant from last season.. so i will say this stuff definitely lasts!
