    2002 FICHT 90 V4 sputtering wot after 1/4 to 1/2 mile.

2002 FICHT 90 V4. Fuel filter was replaced a few seasons ago and probably not more then 10 to 15 hour since. Runs good except wot. Not on the rev limiter.

Warm up and idle out of the canal. Throttle up to near red line and after 1/4 to 1/2 miles starts to sputter like its running out of fuel. Can be repeated by just slowing down a while. But if you back it off to 4,500 rpm's it will run all day. Acts like a volume issue.

    Any ideas things to check.

You most likely have an air leak in the fuel system, air can get in under vacuum but fuel will not leak out.

If you have the mechanical ability you can buy a section of clear fuel line and the correct size fuel line barb to place in the fuel system to check for air bubbles at WOT, air bubbles in the clear fuel line means air leak.

We have Tractor Supply that offers clear fuel line in various sizes.

    Thanks!

Its over due for fuel line replacement anyway. Going to replace the fuel line from the tank and rebuild the lift pump and go from there.
