Matthew 24:37 ff.....

37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark;39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.


Commentary :


1. "As it was in the days of Noah"........................ Judgment was "about to" come .


2. "For in the days before the flood" ................. 1 Corinthians 7 29What I am saying, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none; 30those who weep, as if they did not; those who are joyful, as if they were not; those who make a purchase, as if they had nothing; 31and those who use the things of this world, as if not dependent on them. For this world in its present form is passing away.


3. "they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away"............ Who was taken away during the flood ? The saved (righteous ) or the unsaved (wicked) ? For those who believe in a rapture , these verses are the death blow to your eschatology.


4. "That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man". This was Jesus' teaching regarding his second appearing in A.D. 70.


Do you want to be taken or left behind ? Its a very important question to ask yourself.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.

Thankfully because God is gracious He made this statement in the NT .
