Ignition wire - where to find

I posted this on the Ranger board also sorry if it seems duplicate but thought my Etec brothers may have an answer also:


I a looking to add https://minnkotamotors.johnsonoutdoo...650.1591019720 the MK3 alternator charger to my Ranger with a digital keypad. There is a purple wire that needs to connect to the ignition so it turns on when the outboard is on. I have a 2008 250 etec on this boat. Any one hook one of these up? Where did you hook into? Did it work for you? My intent is to allow charging while pulling the kids on tubes during the hot day.

yes, i put one on my pontoon boat. sometimes you can find the purple wire in the harness on the engine. they usually end up at the ignition switch marked "ignition"
