250 SHO runs then dies out

So my SHO is giving me some fits! Started a couple days ago. Boat fired up and ran across the lake a couple times with no issues. After fishing for an hour or so I went to start it and it would run for a second and die. Then finally it wouldn't start at all. Seemed like a fuel issue. So I got it home and started pulling fuel lines. Was getting plenty of gas to the fuel pump. Then it seemed a little light after that. I hooked everything back up and it fired right up. So it had me thinking maybe it vapor locked? Cause I didn't do anything special!

Took the boat to the lake today. Fired up and ran for 10 minutes with no issues. I turned it off and let it sit 5-10 minutes. Fired up again and ran around the lake for 10 another minutes. Shut it off and waited. Then it wouldn't start. Same issue.

Where do I look next? I have a tournament in 2 weeks and the boat shop can't get me in for a month. Will a fuel pump work intermittently as it begins to fail? Anybody deal with a similar problem?

    Thanks for any help!

I don't know if the SHO uses the same fuel pump relay as the OX66, But I know of many that had this issue including me.

Easy to change, But costs more than it should.

Dealer says that after the engine warms up the fuel pumps (plural) are failing. Quoting $1500 to replace/repair. Anybody else ever have this occur???

I just went thru this last November timeframe. Run and die. Could pump the bulb and keep it running. Fuel Feed Pump fuse was blown, replaced it, started engine and it blew the fuse again. Could still keep it going by hand pumping primer. Took it in to dealer and the primary/feed fuel pump was dead, second pump was on it's way also (possibly from increased demand due to other failing, or the very small filter on pump can clog long enough to kill it). It is unfortunately costly for the pump but it runs great since. I'm looking for my invoice now to see what it cost, but it was covered under warranty.

*Edit: Didn't save the invoice that showed pricing, and the final I got only listed WARRANTY without pricing data. But below is the parts list that was required and might give you some idea of where you stand.

All of these prices are from Sim Yamaha online.

$1500.00 doesn't sound like a crazy price to fix it.

You might be able to find the parts cheaper if you are wanting to tackle the repair yourself.

Thanks for the research on parts and prices! That is reassuring at least in regards to the dealer quote. Still sucks it costs so much. So is life!
