    Removing rubric

    1998 Skeeter zx200C

I noticed a spot on the back of boat near motor that doesn't seem to just right. Friend said I needed to remove rub rail and tighten the screws that would be easy to see with rub rail .

Anybody here done this? And pointers on how to do this is appreciated.

Don't know what "doesn't seem right" means.

There are screws under the rub rail that hold the cap and hull together. At least that's the way I remember the older boats.

In 22 years, they could have worked loose and need to be looked at.

Be careful. You may cause more problems than you solve. In a boat that old, I'd be cautious. Start mucking with the screws, 1/2 of them will probably be stripped out, and next thing you know, you're doing a major rehab.

If it's like the newer boats, there is a cover right in front of the motor that hides the rub rail splice. Remove it, and any screws holding the rub rail down, start peeling the rub rail back and looking. It's not a bad job unless you find problems.

You can also try using rivet's instead of screws.
great for just replacing a stripped out screw.

you can also use it just to suck in the cap!
