    My 2002 Mercury 115 4-Stroke

18+ years on this motor on my pontoon and zero problems until Saturday. Luckily it quit 500 yards from my dock and the repair is not serious.

My mechanic came by and checked it out. It will run at fast idle but goes dead when dropped back to neutral. I need a need idle air valve/sensor. Part is on order.

Best outboard I have ever owned.

I used to say my Yamaha ProV was the most reliable. The 2017 115 ProXS 4S is right there with it so far. Glad they got yours figured out quick!

I have a 2002 115 4-Stroke Merc. I think it is the best by far outboard I have ever owned. Smooth running/ideling easy to start quite. Now that I bragged it will probably blow up next time out.

Wasn't that a Yamaha built 4-stroke? Seems like it was until '06...

Well, part was not available from Mercury. We did some researching and a Yamaha will. Maybe you are right Bee. Ordered it from PartsVu

I had a '96 20hp Mercury 2-stroke on a flatbottom from 2014-2016. Once I cleaned and rebuilt the carb it was really reliable. Started right up and ran great. That was my most reliable motor with age on it but there was also nothing to it. Won't go into the headaches and financial drain my first two motors put me though. Both 200hp 2-strokes from the mid 90's. My 2016 75hp Merc 4-stroke has been reliable too. Probably have 100 hours on it now. They use the same block for the 90 and 115hp so my 75hp shoudn't be under any real stress for a 2.1 litre block.

Finally got my part in last Friday. My mechanic installed it this morning. I will be pontooning this weekend for my grand daughters birthday!
